In appreciation to Ean Begg and his book The Cult of the Black Virgin, we will, as another aspect of the documentary film, be creating a digital  cartography and archive.  It will provide the locations and information significant to the black virgin. We hope it will add to the value of Ean’s Gazetteer that appeared in the early editions of his book. Without Ean’s Gazetteer we would never have been able to locate black virgins in some of the more remote places of Europe. We will be adding sites that were not accessible to Ean in the 1980s, particularly ones behind the Iron Curtain.

Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, it is only now that many black virgins are being documented in Eastern Europe, and more recently in Cuba. It will take a little while to get it going, but we hope to maintain it as a resource for researchers, seekers and fellow travelers.
